1. Brooks Adrenaline

Origin stories of Adrenaline GTS

In 1996, Brooks offered support through what were called motion-control shoes - shoes for runners & walkers who severely deviated from their body's natural motion path. But they realized that level of support was too much for many runners.

So Brooks introduced the Adrenaline GTS to help runners remain in their natural stride without overcorrection. Over time, the Adrenaline GTS became lighter, softer, with smoother transitions, and holistic support.

Review of Adrenaline GTS 21:

The support comes with even more softness in the Adrenaline GTS 21, a road-running shoe that feels like it was made for just your stride.

In the Brooks Adrenaline,  the GuideRail system was first introduced in the Transcend. The GuideRails system keeps your foot in place while you run. It encourages the natural motion of the foot, knee, and hips. These shoes are great for uptempo runs, fartlek training, long runs, and daily runs.

The Adrenaline GTS 21 has full-length DNA Loft foam on the lateral side. DNA LOFT is Brooks' softest cushioning but doesn’t feel too squishy or sacrifice durability. DNA LOFT goes beyond the heel, all the way to the forefoot, for a buttery smooth stride.

Adrenaline GTS 21 feature harder rubber in the heel and softer, blown rubber in the forefoot and midfoot. While being very thick pieces of rubber, they aren't as durable as the rubber used by other brands. But it has excellent traction on a variety of surfaces, wet and dry.

Features:

  • Soft, smooth cushioning: DNA LOFT

  • Smart support: GuideRails® technology

  • Soft, secure fit: The engineered upper hugs the foot for a secure fit while also improving breathability.

2. Brooks Glycerin

Origin stories of the Glycerin

The story of the Glycerin begins in the late 1990s - in true‘90s northwest grunge spirit, the name was inspired by the song Glycerine by the band Bush. From early HydroFlow, to new DNA LOFT, the Glycerin has always had Brooks's most innovative cushion tech.

The Glycerin will always function as Brooks' premium soft shoe, and as they grow options for runners through support and fit, the Glycerin line continuing to be a favorite among runners.

Review of Glycerin 19:

The Brooks Glycerin 19 is the best cushioned neutral running shoes in the Brooks Running Shoes family, and it is perfect for runners who seek a daily trainer for neutral pronates. This plush shoe is designed for comfort, indeed the Glycerin 19 is all about the comfort.

The Glycerin 19’s strength is its magnificent upper which is a design masterpiece. The upper material is updated. The new plush upper provides a better fit. The engineered mesh provides a comfortable sock-like fit which conforms to the foot. The tongues and heel counters are padded and provide a secure lockdown. They even redesigned the interior for an even softer all-around feeling.

The Glycerin 19 now features even more of revolutionary DNA LOFT cushioning for the ultimate in softness. The outsole is full rubber and it extends its durability. The traction is very well on dry surfaces.

For the short distance runs where the power output will be significant, the Glycerin 19 is not so good. It is unresponsive, and the midsole is so soft. But it is normal, since this running shoe is designed for comfort, but not for a springy or energetic experience. The Glycerin 19 is highly durable and comfortable and this makes this pair of shoes highly eligible for long runs as well as daily trainings. Due to the amount of padding and the thick upper, it may not be the best running shoe for summer.

Features:

  • Super soft cushion, but never too squishy.

  • Plush interior: a newly designed mesh upper stretches for a roomy-yet-secure fit and allows for more air flow.

  • Smooth transitions: plenty of super soft cushioning in the middle of the shoe, so going from heel to toe feels incredibly soft and smooth as you run.

3. Brooks Ghost

Origin stories of the Ghost

Brooks introduced the Ghost in 2008 with the goal of creating a go-to neutral shoe for runners. At the time, their director of product management was known for doing all his running workouts at night - and was therefore nicknamed "the Ghost," which eventually became the shoe's name.

Throughout the years, runners have loved the Ghost for its soft cushioning, smooth transitions, and its reliability as a daily trainer.

Review of Ghost 13

Looking for a smoother way to run? The Ghost 13 road-running shoe offers super smooth transitions plus soft cushioning so your run is the only thing on your mind.

The Brooks Ghost 13 is one of the all-time best Brooks running shoes. First, the Ghost is a neutral shoe. Basically, the runner who wears a neutral shoe is someone whose feet do not need any motion control whatsoever. If you have overpronation issues, meaning your feet tend to roll inward too much, the Ghost is not going to provide any guidance or correction.

Brooks Ghost lines have superior cushioning and energy return for running shoes. The cushioning technologies all start with DNA because they react to your unique stride. Combination of BioMoGo DNA cushioning with super soft DNA LOFT cushioning creates a smooth, balanced feel underfoot. The Ghost 13’s midsole is 30% DNA Loft and the Ghost 14 is now 100% DNA Loft. Albeit with slightly less DNA loft than the Glycerin, the shoes provide great cushioning over a long run.

Ghost 13 is an award-winning favorite loved for its soft, smooth ride. The Ghost 13 shoes are lightest in weight compared with Adrenaline and Glycerin.

Features:

  • Smooth transitions: The soft midsole and Segmented Crash Pad team up for easier flow from landing to toe-off.

  • Soft, smooth cushioning: Combination of BioMoGo DNA cushioning with super soft DNA LOFT cushioning creates a smooth, balanced feel underfoot.

  • Plush fit: Engineered Air Mesh upper hugs the foot for a secure - but still breathable - fit.
