Like the Noé, the Neverfull has visible connections to the Sac Marin navy bag and its parent, the Sac A Linge laundry bag. Some resemblance can be traced back to its cylindrical form, its small leather hands and the body's soft canvas. Its roots can be also traced back to the wardrobe trunk and the streamer trunk: these two lineages resulted in a new generation of bags with a basic rectangular form, one of which was the Neverfull. In 2013, Louis Vuitton celebrated the Neverfull bag with a new version of this iconic bag. The redesigned interior features a fresh textile lining and heritage details inspired by the house's archives.

In 2019 Louis Vuitton updated the Artsy with a top leather trim. There are rumors that they did it because of the typical canvas cracking on the top part. The leather part is supposed to prevent the canvas from cracking.
