#1. Sprite

($6.68 FROM Walmart - Get Up To 4% Cash Back & Save 10%)

1698802851382873.jpg

When it comes to lemon-lime soda, Sprite always feels like the best choice. It's the most well-known brand, perhaps more famous for its ridiculous carbonation.

The lemon-lime soft drink now known as "Sprite" was developed in West Germany in 1959 as Fanta Klare Zitrone ("Fanta Clear Lemon" in English) and introduced to the United States in 1961 as "Sprite."

Sprite is Coca-Cola's answer to 7 UP, but we think it actually tastes smoother.

7 Up and Sprite look and taste the same, so it's hard to tell them apart. When you taste it carefully, you'll notice that the Sprite has more lime flavor, while the 7UP has more fizz and less lime flavor.

Although the taste of Sprite is sweeter than 7 UP, the strong carbonation is also impressive!

However, it does have a good amount of carbonation, which puts it higher in our ranking of sparkling flavors.

It has a very recognizable lemon scent to your nose both when you open it and when you drink it.

Sprite always has the upper hand in this contest, but at the end of the day, it really is the best among lemon-lime sodas.

#2. Starry Zero Sugar Lemon Lime Soda Pop

($7.28 FROM Walmart - Get Up To 4% Cash Back & Save 10%)

Starry lemon lime soda sweeps you away on a cosmic flavor journey, where the boldness of lemon meets the intrigue of lime in a harmonious embrace.

Each sip is like a shooting star of taste, as the tangy brightness of lemon takes the lead, only to be followed by the gentle lime undertone that adds depth and complexity.

The result is a sparkling sensation that twinkles on your palate, leaving you starry-eyed and craving more.

Crafted with care, Starry’s unique composition includes carbonated water, cane sugar, natural flavors, and a dash of citric acid that brings its celestial flavor to life.

#3. Sprite Mexico Lemon Lime Soda Pop

($15.25 FROM Walmart - Get Up To 4% Cash Back & Save 10%)

The Mexican Sprite doesn't have the same level of carbonation as its American cousin, nor would we expect it to, but it does have a fair amount of fizz on its own.

These bubbles help better highlight the subtle citrus flavor in the soda. It's not tooth-gnawingly sour, but it has just the right amount of zing to let you know exactly what it is.

It's a refreshing soda, appropriate since it has the word "refresco" on the bottle. It's a little too sweet to drink, but as you sip it, you realize it makes the perfect addition to just about any lunch or dinner on the planet.

#4. 7 Up

($4.98 FROM Walmart - Get Up To 4% Cash Back & Save $2)

When it comes to the best lemonades, we think 7UP tends to get left out. We can't totally disrespect the classics, because 7UP is the granddaddy of all lemonades.

As a lemon-lime soda, we were surprised to find that it fell a bit short compared to the competition—it leaned more toward the lemon flavor, which we actually didn't like here, and the flavor was hard to justify as purely lemony.

We also think the 7UP is the best mixer because its flavor is more impressive and even rivals super tasty drinks like whiskey.

It has a pleasant lime flavor that lingers on your taste buds, with a sweet kick in the back.

#5. Jarritos Lime

($1.06 FROM Walmart - Get Up To 4% Cash Back & Save $2)

Don't let the labels fool you. Jarritos Lime actually tastes more like lemonade, which is why we included it on this list.

It feels like Jarritos' answer to Sprite or 7UP, except it's tarter and has less fizz than those more familiar brands.

This sparkling water is very refreshing and perfect for mixing with tequila or mezcal.

It's made with cane sugar, not the high-fructose corn syrup that many soda drinkers prefer.

#6. Sparkling Ice +Caffeine Citrus Twist Sparkling Water

($1.06 FROM Walmart - Get Up To 4% Cash Back & Save $2)

1700203943194419.jpg

Its bright citrus flavor and crisp carbonation make Citrus Twist the closest off-brand imitation of the major lemon-lime soda brands.

We call the Citrus Twist a slightly less fizzy version of the Sprite; with the same vibrant lemon-lime flavor, the two strike a perfect balance.

If we were making a mixed drink with lemonade, we would choose Citrus Twist or even Sprite or 7-Up.

It's more affordable and can compete with the heavyweights in taste. However, the lack of fizzy crispness was noticeable enough that we preferred drinking branded soda.

#7. OLIPOP Lemon Lime, A New Kind of Soda

($35.98 FROM Walmart - Get Up To 4% Cash Back & Save $2)

1700204386899405.jpg

Although Olipop is packed with prebiotics and 9 grams of dietary fiber, taste alone doesn't differentiate Olipop from other unhealthy sodas.

Olipop is sweet and refreshing with a lively citrus flavor, and it doesn't have any of the taste complaints we have about lower-tier health sodas.

As with other prebiotic soft drinks, Olipop's lack of bubbles is disappointing. Just a little refreshing carbonation texture is enough, but not nearly as much as a traditional soda.

The drink tastes more like lemonade, and while the acidity is certainly nice, it's not a great soda - just an okay soda.

#8. Zevia Zero Calorie Soda, Lemon Lime Twist

($43.97 FROM Walmart - Get Up To 4% Cash Back & Save $2)

1700204799380033.jpg

The cans of Zevia Lemon Lime Twist are sleeker than other products on the market.

It's also gold, which is a surprisingly nice touch - almost every other lemonade brand's packaging leans towards green, so we appreciate that Zevia goes the opposite direction.

The lemon flavor is tangy with a subtle hint of lime, creating a crisp and attractive flavor combination. Each bite delivers a guilt-free treat that satisfies your cravings without compromising on taste.

Zevia's commitment to using real ingredients is reflected in its blend of carbonated water, citric acid, stevia leaf extract and natural flavors.

#9. Mello Yello Citrus Soda Pop

($21.98 FROM Walmart - Get Up To 4% Cash Back & Save 15%)

image.png

Mello Yello is a highly caffeinated citrus-flavored soft drink produced and distributed by The Coca-Cola Company. It was launched in 1979 to compete with PepsiCo's Mountain Dew.

From the first sip to the last, Mello Yello is the perfect combination of lemon, lime, and orange flavors with a kick of caffeine to keep you energized when you need it most.

There have been three flavored variants of Mello Yello in North America. Mello Yello Cherry was released in response to Mountain Dew Code Red.

Mello Yello tastes great and they are truly satisfying, but of course remember not to have a can a day, it will take at least two or three days to consume such a large amount of carbohydrates.

#10. Shasta Twist Lemon Lime

($38 FROM Walmart - Get Up To 4% Cash Back & Save 15%)

1700205353246654.jpg

Like many lemon-lime sodas, Shasta Twist is caffeine-free and is also available in a diet option and a Cherry Twist version. It is considered one of the healthier lemonades because it contains only 80 calories per can and is marketed as low sodium.

Unfortunately, Shasta Twist comes last because its flavor doesn't compare to the other products on this list.
