Luckily, a wide variety of specialized shoes can effectively support overpronated feet and arches and improve the condition. You should find a shoe that has an inflexible heel and thick midsole with good arch support. What shoe brand is best for overpronation? What shoes should I buy if I have flat feet? According to my research and testing, here are the 8 best women's walking shoes for overpronation or flat feet on the market. Some of them are even podiatrist recommended shoes for overpronation.

1. The HOKA Arahi 6

Review:  Lightweight. Stable. Unmatched. Surprisingly light for a stability shoe, the Arahi returns, grounded in the same stabilizing J-FrameTM as its predecessor. The Hoka Arahi 6 is a shoe built for stability and to prevent excessive inward rolling, but it does so without being too stiff, which helps prevent pronation during a gait cycle. The HOKA Arahi has been one of the most sought-after stability shoes on the market over the last few years.

Its extra cushioning helps absorb shock and provides comfort, and the rocker bottom helps absorb and reduce pressure along the foot as you walk. This structure is very beneficial for the midfoot and other areas of pain or arthritis formation.

It's been refined with a pull tab and mesh upper with zones of breathability. The Arahi 6 delivers the perfect balance of plushness and support.

Is flat feet and overpronation the same?

Overpronation - sometimes called flat feet - is when a person's foot leans too much toward the center when walking, running, or standing. Overpronation can cause your feet to flatten. Most people who develop overpronation often start with slightly flattened feet. If you already have flat feet, you're more inclined to develop overpronation. Flat feet can lead to musculoskeletal pain and injuries, especially if symptoms arise and go unaddressed.

Many people are born with flat feet, but it can also develop over time due to obesity, tendon damage, and other conditions.

Symptoms of Overpronation

If you overpronate while walking or running, you may not experience any symptoms, or you may notice that certain issues arise over time. According to the Pedorthic Association of Canada, common results of overpronation include:

  • Heel pain

  • Plantar fasciitis

  • Bunions

  • Iliotibial (IT) band pain

  • Low back pain

  • Shin splints

  • Orthopedic injuries to the foot or lower leg, such as fractures

  • Causes of Overpronation

While everyone is born with flat feet, most people develop arches as they grow (though some people remain flat-footed from birth). Years of running or walking may also weaken the tendons and ligaments that support the arches of the feet, causing the feet to flatten and worsening overpronation.

Do Overpronators need stability shoes for walking?

There are a number of things you can do to address overpronation, but wearing motion-controlled (or stability) shoes is a good place to start. Motion control shoes can help stabilize your foot and limit the range of motion of the foot, thereby blocking excess pronation.

What kind of walking shoes should I buy for flat feet?

lightweight soles designed to soften steps and alleviate stress on the joints, a firm midsole with arch support, and the ability to add an orthotic to the shoe. recommend you wear shoes with a cushioned, ergonomic sole to soften your steps, absorb impact, and ease foot motion while walking.
