On Cloudrunner - On Cloudrunner features engineered mesh upper.It is a double layer of mesh that is durable. The mesh showed minimal wear and tear after 100 miles in. Comfort continues in the upper. The double mesh provided ample cushioning from heel to toe. There was a medium amount of cushioning in the heel. It has a standard heel counter similar to those used in other trainers. It held your foot in place for the most part aiding in the stability of the trainer.While the upper is durable it lacks breathability slightly. 

On Cloudflyer 4 - The upper is plush with a thicker knitted liner that makes for a lower volume fit in the forefoot with a secure and slightly snug fit elsewhere.I find the thin laces of the On Cloudflyers to be a drawback.They are the thinnest laces I have seen on a pair of running shoes. They became undone on occasion if they were not double-knotted. The star lacing system would be more effective and noticeable with thicker laces.

On Cloudgo - The CloudGo upper is made of 85 to 90% recycled material and the mesh feels soft to touch.The upper is soft and comfortable throughout, moderately breathable.On promotes Cloudflyer’s tongue as their “plushest ever,” but Cloudgo’s tongue is a touch thicker and is also wider to cushion more of the foot. Laces run through a reinforced loop on the tongue to keep it in place.

On Cloudmonster - On rarely disappoints with their uppers and the Cloudmonster is no different. The fit is incredibly comfortable and the insides feel velvety smooth. The Cloudmonster’s upper also doesn’t feel over-built like a lot of other max-cushioned trainers which have an excess of padding.It has a burrito-style tongue which wraps around the foot and it’s attached on both sides. The tongue is thin and flat but you don’t feel the lacing pressure on top of your foot. 

2.The Outsole

On Cloudrunner - The outsole of the ON Cloudrunner is covered in CloudTec Rubber. With thicker coverage in the forefoot and heel to handle impact and lift offs. This is a wise choice because it shows some wear after 60 miles. The tread is on the lighter side so it struggles a bit in wet conditions.

On Cloudflyer 4 - Rubber patches cover much of the forefoot, the back heel pods, and late lateral midfoot pod to protect these higher abrasion areas and provide grip together with ridges cut into the foam of the exposed Cloud pods.

On Cloudgo - Thin rubber patches cover much of the outsole which is split by three horizontal flex grooves and and an almost full-length vertical divide. These segments allow for flexibility while a wide base and Speedboard bring enough stability to make this shoe appealing to a wide range of runners.Grip is average, and durability is low, though the rubber covering is slightly thicker below the heel than forefoot.

On Cloudmonster - There are 5 horizontal rows of clouds which form the Cloudmonster’s outsole. There’s rubber coverage on the heel as well as on the forefoot so the high wear areas have protection.The Cloudmonster isn’t a tough workhorse like the Infinity Run 3 or the Triumph 19 so the outsole and midsole have a considerably lower lifespan. Grip is however also very good because the exposed rubber of the Clouds feels very tacky on most surfaces.

On Cloudrunner - The Cloudrunner uses a Zero-gravity foam that provides a firmer, more responsive feel than the Cloudflyer. It’s good for tempo runners or runners who prefer faster speeds over longer runs. Zero gravity foam is a lightweight compound used for the midsole. It is a plush compound offering a comfortable ride from the first step. Between the foam and the cloudpods the Cloudrunner offers a bouncy ride.The cloudpods are enveloped by the zero gravity foam instead of being individual which gives it this feeling. The downside to all this comfort and plushiness is the lack of an energy return.

On Cloudflyer 4 - The midsole features two columns of cloudtec elements with a midline groove in the heel and midfoot that transition into a full width forefoot. The full length Helion foam is quite firm and a highly curved sole design makes for a rockered ride. 

On Cloudgo - The Cloudtec midsole is said to be the brand’s Helion™ Superfoam which combines rigid and flexible elements for a soft yet supported ride. It feels great underfoot—really a cloud-like ride—and only seems “squishy” at times under the heel.Given the softer foam throughout the base, the transition heel to forefoot is not a quick as in Cloudflyer, but a forefoot rocker plus spring from the board in Cloudgo get the runner quickly into toe-off.

On Cloudmonster - On still uses Helion foam in the midsole of the Cloudmonster but the major difference is that the stack is much higher, so there’s a higher rate of compression.The Cloudmonster has a single layer of clouds with each Cloud having a large hole in the middle of it that allows for it to compress.This setup results in a softer underfoot feel than a dual layer of small Clouds with small holes in the middle of each cloud like in some of On’s other max-cushioned trainers.

On Cloudrunner - The fit is true to size.If you usually wear a wide fitting shoe, these may be a little too snug for you in the standard size, but they do offer a wide fit option.

On Cloudflyer 4 - This shoe fits well!The upper is plush with extra padding throughout. The height feels lower because of this, especially in the forefoot and almost made the shoe feel short. This material immediately broke in and began to feel true to size.

On Cloudgo - Cloudgo fits true to size for length.

On Cloudmonster - The fit of the Cloudmonster runs a half size large so I suggest sizing down because it has extra length. It has a narrow midfoot, forefoot and toe box.The toe box also feels shallow. It’s definitely not suitable for wide feet or high volume feet.
