What Does It Do?

A clinically shown to visibly reduce signs of aging while brightening and rejuvenating the skin with little to no irritation. Enriched with a powerful anti-oxidant and synergy of patented ingredients to plump the skin and restore radiance for a more youthful appearance. Formulation is supported by 3 patents with Retinaldehyde, a direct precursor to Retinoic Acid, and RelastideTM, a pro-elastin peptide, and Pre-Tocopheryl, a photostable precursor to vitamin E for maximum efficacy.

Key Ingredients:

- Retinaldehyde: clinically shown to be more effective than Retinol, smoothes away the appearance of wrinkles and brightens the skin.

- Patented Relastide®: a pro-elastin peptide, helps the skin look plumper, firmer and more radiant.

- Patented Pre-Tocopheryl: a photostable form of Vitamin E, provides powerful anti-oxidant protection against free radicals.

- Avène Thermal Spring Water: clinically shown by 150 studies to soothe, soften and calm the skin.

Who Is It For?

Ideal for skin with signs of aging such as loss of firmness, dull skin, uneven tone and sun damage.

Review: RetrinAL 0.1 is a very lightweight, yellow-colored cream. It's thin and doesn't feel sticky. The most unusual thing about this product is it contains Retinal NOT Retinol. The company claims this ingredient is a direct precursor to retinoic acid– and therefore it is more potent than good old retinol. But the stronger the retinoid, the higher the risk for redness, flaking, and irritation. Thankfully, Avène anticipated the potential sensitivity and added hyaluronic acid and thermal spring water, which helps calm skin for "a win-win situation."

The vast majority of customers found this product effective at removing wrinkles and lines and hydrating the skin. A few users thought it was too thick, however, but generally, there were few complaints.

Avéne has long had a line called Ystéal that used retinaldehyde. However, that line has been discontinued. But if you take a closer look at some of the formulas, you'll find some striking similarities to that of Avéne US RetrinAL products, like Avene YsthéAL Anti-Wrinkle Cream and Avene RetrinAL 0.1 Intensive Cream.

- Avène Thermal Spring Water: Clinically shown by 150 studies to soothe, soften and calm the skin.

Who Is It For?

Ideal for aging, dry skin, including sensitive.

Review: Cicalfate is such a versatile product. You can use it to calm irritated skin, from scratches to eczema. Even dermatologists often use it on postoperative skin. Consistency is quite thick, almost like a paste, but very hydrating. Perfect for bedtime but def not during the day. Overall, it's definitely heavier and less recommended if you already have very oily skin.

"Like all Avène products, this cream is soothing and moisturizing; it doesn't irritate my dermatitis, either. Avène is my go-to for winter dry skin." wrote one Aveneusa.com reviewer.

What Does It Do?

Advanced complex of time-released Vitamin C and E precursors, enhanced with a powerful antioxidant booster, neutralize free radicals caused by environmental and lifestyle stressors. Fast-absorbing serum protects and visibly plumps the skin to preserve a younger, brighter complexion.

Key Ingredients:

- Pre-Tocopheryl (Vitamin E precursor): Photostable Vitamin E provides powerful antioxidant protection against free radicals.

- Ascorbyl Glucoside (Vitamin C precursor): helps support collagen and brighten the skin, while remaining gentle enough for sensitive skin.

- Mother-of-pearl: an energizing molecule, helps the skin boost and optimize its natural defense against free radicals.

- Hyaluronic Acid: provides intense hydration.

- Avene Thermal Spring Water: soothes, softens and calms the skin.

Who Is It For?

Ideal for combination to oily skin, even sensitive or rosacea-prone skin.

Review: A-Oxitive Water Cream is specifically formulated to minimise the risk of an allergic reaction. A-Oxitive have an innovative gradual release mechanism, which transforms Pro-Vitamin C into Pure Vitamin C on contact with the skin. This is ideal for sensitive skin types. This means the Avène A-Oxitive Water Cream is ideal for those who have sensitive skin, but want to incorporate potent skincare products which will gently combat tired dull skin and prevent further signs of ageing, The cream is silky, melting into the skin without causing the skin to feel over hydrated.

One shopper said: "This is a very lovely serum- light, absorbs quickly, feels delightful on the skin and is great under my SPF. It's only been about 3 weeks, but I do feel my skin tone is more even and clearer. It is pretty highly fragranced, a caution if that bothers you. A little pricey, I'm interested in seeing how long it lasts. Overall though, a winner. Vitamin C very well tolerated."
