Editor's review: Which Takis flavor is the best?

#1.                  Takis Fuego

Takis is a brand of snack that was created in Mexico. They are moderately thick tortilla chips rolled into small cylinders, similar to mini taquitos.

The most popular and well-known of Takis is its "Fuego" flavor (Hot Chili Pepper & Lemon), which is the spiciest of all flavors in a bright purple bag.

In this case, we're happy to leave the word to Takis: "As if you were eating fire flames, as if you were burning your own tongue, would you eat fire?"

Takis Fuego are very spicy Mexican chips that have been trending online for the "Takis Challenge" for years.

It is said to be between 30,000-50,000 units on the Scoville scale, which is as hot as cayenne and tabasco peppers.

The Takis brand advertising says it all: "Don't try our flavors as they are addictive (and dangerously) delicious!"

Takis Fuego chips are deep red in color, and are covered in rich spices. This product may not be the hottest snack ever, but it did make me sweat around my neck and also made my fingers red from the spicy dust.

We'll admit, the special edition "Hot Chili Pepper & Lime flavored" is for snack lovers who like fiery flavors, such as ourselves.

These are one of the best hot chips we've ever had. We would definitely recommend Takis Fuego to friends or family as the they are so delicious.

Takis, exactly what we expected. When you take your first bite, you'll smell a burst of lime flavor, followed by a quick bite of fried corn.

Once the corny smell is gone, the Fuego Takis create an overwhelming amount of heat, which fortunately subsides after a few seconds.

You can feel the chili on the way down, though. There's a noticeable tingling in your gut as the oil in the fried corn and chili mixes together.

For the just mentioned sourness of lime , not the strongest, it won't wrinkle your mouth like lime-flavored Tostitos. Fuego is Takis' flagship product, and it strikes the perfect balance between spiciness and flavor, and overall just the right amount of "stimulus."

All we have to say is, yes, these things taste great. But don't overlook their hearty crunch, like something coming out of a deep fryer.

These crunchiness also make them stand out, although there are also Taki-flavored Dinamitas from rival brand Doritos on the market.

But the biggest difference between Takis and Dinamita is their texture: Takis have thicker flakes and flaky layers, which make for a particularly satisfying crunch. Dinamita chips are slightly thinner and more likely to break rather than crunch.

All in all, Fuego is our favourite Takis, full of spiciness and crunch with the addition of lime. If you're shopping for any flavor of Takis, get this one.

#2.                  Takis Blue Heat

image.png

"Get ready for a sensory experience so intense it may be our most extreme flavor yet" declares Takis.

It was really spicy, just like the legend. The strong and spicy taste has made it a huge hit for those who want a challenge, even long-time fans.

When you taste them, the first bite is spicy, then it gets spicier and hotter in the aftertaste. But overall, it's not as spicy as Fuego, and it doesn't have the lime flavor that Fuego contains. Therefore, it is suitable for pure spicy eaters.

Anyway, apart from the good taste, what is its biggest feature?

We were impressed with some of the Takis' strong colors, especially Fuego's strong reds, but here you can find strong blues—an appealing color you won't see in other snacks.

These colors are powdered seasonings that will quickly turn your fingertips, lips and tongue blue.

The blue tongue certainly doesn't lighten in a short period of time, it may take a whole day to lighten. So we suggest you grab a bag to share with your friends. This way everyone will not be embarrassed and will enjoy the awesome taste and intensity.

Here's a new accolade:

The "Product of the Year 2024" survey, conducted in the United States, revealed the list of consumers' favorite brands, where Barcel USA's Takis Blue was chosen as "Best Hot and Spicy Snack.".

Through a survey, approximately 40 thousand consumers across the United States choose the brands that appear in this list. The winners are creditors of the Voted Product Of The Year red label, which is globally recognized for certifying products and brands as the best in their different categories, in addition to recognizing innovation in their packaging design, ingredients, and flavor.

#3.                  Takis Nitro

Takis Nitro is labeled "Extreme", but it ranks third in the spiciness level.

In marketing ads, it is described as an upgrade from a simple "chili lime" to a "habanero lime".

Anyone who has ever cut a habanero will tell you that these things should be handled with latex gloves.

But it's more of an advertising gimmick than an actual experience.

There are three actual flavors of Takis Nitro: Havana, Lime, and Cucumber. The result is an intense mix of "wow" after each crunchy bite.

It is spicy, but not as spicy as Fuego. It's sour, even more sour than Fuego.

So here's the conclusion after the experience: even though it says EXTREME spice, it actually tastes barely spicy, mostly lime, and will really wrinkle your mouth.

It has a slightly smoky and sweet finish at the end and is more suitable for those who don't need the hot Takis flavors of Fuego and Blue Heat.

#4.                  Takis Xplosion

Ka-Boom! Take a bite of Takis Xplosion Chips and you’ll feel it. The taste of cheese hits you like Bam! Then the flavor of chili pepper comes on like Pow! This detonation of intensity makes Xplosion rolled tortilla chips a blast to eat — literally. Rated “Very Hot,” these are like a flavor volcano.

But don't worry, it can't match Fuego's spiciness. The heat hit the hardest in the aftertaste, and although it wasn't super-hot, it was reasonably hot, and the heat lingered for a long while.

And instead of the lime flavor, it contains a tangy cheese flavor, so that Cheetos lovers might find a favorite snack in the Takis brand. Each crunchy piece of rolled tortilla is fully loaded with a surge of cheesy, zesty, and irresistible nacho flavour.

Don't miss it if you like salty snacks. They have so many seasonings that you will definitely recommend them to anyone who likes something full of flavour.

But thanks to the slightly less heat in the Takis Nacho Xplosion, the cheese flavor is brighter and more intense.

#6.                  Takis Crunchy Fajitas

Takis Crunchy Fajita Chips have all the spicy intensity of this Tex-Mex dish. Open a bag and watch the fiesta erupt.

Takis Crunchy Fajita has a deep orange dressing that looks hot and spicy, although not as intimidating as the bright red Takis Fuego.

In fact, this spice mix will give you the taste of cheese, cumin, cayenne, and paprika, followed by a mild spiciness.

Rated "Hot," Crunchy Fajita rolled tortilla chips are not for the bland. They will turn your salsa into a slam dance, so only the intense need apply.

These remind us a little of Doritos, but with a nice little kick them. Lots of crunch, tons of flavor, and just the right amount of spice, all make them quickly become the best side dishes for me and my friends when watching movies at home. A bag won't last long at this time.

They're also a delicious snack on the go, with a great spicy taste that isn't too intense and blends with the delicious natural salsa that coats the tortilla chips.

#7.                  Takis Guacamole

SHOP NOW

(Get Up To 5% Cash Back with eBay)

image.png

Guacamole also pronounced Huakamole or Takis HuaKamoles are mini taquitos shaped 1.5" long snacks very crunchy and spicy guacamole and jalapeno taste.

Upon opening Takis Guacamole a jalapeno-like smell leaps from the bag.  The aroma is carried over into the flavor as only a non-spicy hint.  The creamy guacamole then takes over and is finished out by a powerful salty aftertaste.  The crunch is nice and the overall presentation tastes as if you rolled up a really salty Doritos and dipped it into guacamole, although this version is far less messy.

But don't let the guacamole flavor fool you, they still carry a hint of lime and smoky flavor. Due to the lower spiciness, people who like spicy food tend to give it up, even thinking they taste like tomato.

#8.                  Takis Wild

This is a milder version of Takis in the exciting Buffalo Ranch flavor. It's perfect for people who don't like or can't eat the original ones. If you like spicy, then you will be disappointed with these.

Aside from the missing spiciness, it's coated with less seasoning. The result is a light taste, not a strong one.

Most people don't like the bag, but the heat is fairly strong and will stay around quite a while in the lingering aftertaste.

What other snack products does Takis offer?

Takis®, the iconic spicy rolled tortilla chip brand known for its intensely good flavor, has now expanded its bold lineup into five new snack categories.

Leading with its signature Fuego® variety, Takis® is looking to disrupt the salty snack category and solidify its place as the most intense snack brand in the world.

The five new brand extensions include:

  • Takis Waves: The brand is bringing a tsunami of flavor as it enters the $8.4 billion potato chip subcategory with its first line of ridged potato chips. With potato chips representing 30 percent of the salty snacks category, Takis Waves are ready to crash to shore and disrupt the mark.

  • Takis Watz: The cheese snacks category has some intense new competition with the launch of Takis Watz, with the perfect combination of crunchiness and electric flavor.

  • Takis POP!: The bold flavor of Takis joins the ready-to-eat popcorn category, to create an explosive new snack that is hard to resist.

  • Takis Stix: Fans of corn snack sticks will enjoy the full flavor and intensity of Takis in this perfect, on-the-go snacking option.

  • Takis Hot Nuts: Launched in fall 2020, Takis Hot Nuts continue to be popular with consumers, with sales up 15.2 percent year to date. Featuring a unique double crunch technology, Takis Hot Nuts offers spicy intensity with each peanut-filled bite.

How much is Takis Crisps?

Takis branches out beyond their well-known spicy rolled tortilla chips and other snacks to launch new Takis Crisps, which are flavored, potato crisps similar to Pringles.

1660124907980651.png

Like Pringles, Takis Crisps features a curved, stackable shape and come in a cylindrical container.

At launch, Takis Crisps come in Takis' signature chili-lime Fuego flavor. You can find them in stores nationwide in both 2-oz and 5.5-oz containers with a suggested price of $1.19 and $1.69, respectively.

How many flavors are available in Takis Hot Nuts?

The new Takis Hot Nuts come in three flavors that use lime and chili pepper seasonings: Fuego, Flare and Smokin’ Lime.

  • Fuego: “Takis signature hot chili pepper and lime variety! The heat is on with this fiery, crunchy snack – each bite is like eating fire.”

  • Flare: “The perfect savory snack with just a spark of heat, this chili pepper lime variety provides the right amount of spice with every bite.”

  • Smokin' Lime: “Smoky chipotle flavoring meets a hint of lime for an intensely tasty snack.”

What color are Takis?

Takis Fuego Chips are a bold breakthrough with a unique curled shape that's more crunchy than traditional nachos or rounds. They start with real corn masa for authentic taste and high quality ingredients to ensure you get incredible tasting chips.

The chips are covered in fiery seasonings that come in different colors. The chips found in a bag of Takis tend to be red and orange in color, although some flavors such as Guacamole are more yellowish-lime green in color.

The chips change color with every bite, and they warn on the bags that your tongue will most definitely change color too. For example, the volcano queso chips start off with an orange color and then turn into a green color, and the scorpion BBQ start and red then turn to blue.

What color Takis is the hottest?

Fuego, a hot chili pepper and lime flavor. It is the spiciest of all varieties, as well as the most popular flavor (purple packaging).

Fuego vs Blue Heat: Which Takis Is Hotter?

Fuego. Both are hot, but Blue Heat is not as spicy as Fuego. In the aftertaste, the Blue Heat is getting spicier and spicier, while the Fuego's spiciness fades faster as it also has a tart and sweet taste.

Are Takis actually spicy?

Overall, Takis are generally very salty, spicy, and very acidic. According to a YouTube video of people tasting a few flavors of Takis, they deemed the Fuego flavor to be the best. This flavor has heat and spiciness to it, but the heat was ultimately dulled by the tangy flavor that comes from the sour lime flavor.

How do you make Takis less spicy?

  • Be sure to eat some dairy, like milk or coconut milk, or even a few cubes of yogurt to help break down the spiciness and keep your mouth cool when eating spicy food. Many milk-based products contain a protein called casein, which can help break down these capsaicinoids.

  • Be sure to drink acidic beverages, such as citric acid from lime and lemon, which can also help reduce spiciness.

  • Cut down on some carbs.

  • Don't think a glass of water is your savior.

  • Don't expect alcohol to relieve pain.

What is Taki seasoning made of?

As described on their packaging, Takis are small fried rolled corn tortillas with the taste of chili and lime.

Tajin seasoning is a popular Mexican spice blend made with a combination of salt, chili peppers, and dehydrated lime. It adds just the right touch of zing.

What is the ingredient list for Red Taki?

Takis Fuego are made from corn, palm oil, seasoning salt sugar, natural flavors, citric acid, soy protein, yeast extract, monosodium glutamate, maltodextrin, sodium diacetate, vegetable oil, artificial flavors, onion powder, chili extract, silicate dioxide, baking soda, 2% or less of antioxidants and traces of lime.

What to pair with Takis to enhance it?

Combining two food favorites–chips and mac n’ cheese–is a surefire way to create a delicious dish. This recipe is also an elevated way to eat Takis because it’s one way to eat Takis without leaving your fingers red! Usually, good mac n’ cheese combines creamy, smooth, cheesy textures with the crunch of breadcrumbs.

How many Takis is it safe to eat?

We assure you that Takis are safe to eat, but should be enjoyed in moderation as part of a well-balanced diet. Takis ingredients fully comply with U.S. Food and Drug Administration regulations and all of the ingredients in each flavor are listed in detail on the label. Moderation is key Keep in mind that 1 ounce (28 grams) is considered a single serving of Takis. This equals approximately 12 pieces.

Can vegans eat Takis?

For all you spicy chip fans out there, you will be happy to know that Takis are in fact vegan, which is great news! However, while some of their flavors are vegan, others are not because they contain milk or eggs. Crunchy Fajitas Takis and Xplosion flavors also have milk, eggs, and cheese. Our favorite flavor, Fuego, which is also the original flavor of Takis, is of course 100% vegan.
