Reebok Nano X5 Review

Released Year: 2025

Price: $140-$150

To celebrate the 15th anniversary of Nano training shoe, Reebok set out to make the most comfortable version yet. The Reebok Nano X5 dropped in early 2025 that steers away from the more aggressive Nano X4 and closer toward a shoe we’d choose for most lifting and HIIT activities.Comfier, more flexible, and therefore, more versatile, than its predecessor, the Nano X5 elevates the line-up with a new Dual-response EVA midsole and Decoupled Metasplit outsole which allows its wearer to lift heavy, run, jump and everything in between. And ite features a more responsive foam in the forefoot for comfort while running and jumping. A plush collar keeps the foot locked down and eliminates distractions. The 15th iteration of the Nano closer to CrossFit perfection than anyone else.

At its heart, the X5 is still the brilliant stable lifting platform of its forebears. It is a well-regarded cross-training shoe, praised for its stability, comfort, and versatility for various gym activities including lifting, HIIT, and even short runs. While not ideal for long-distance running, it excels in weightlifting, CrossFit, and general gym training. Some users have noted a wide heel and potential for slippage during certain movements, but overall, the Nano X5 is considered a strong contender in the training shoe market.

The Nano X5 has a similar silhouette to the X4, but the toe box is noticeably wider. This will probably be a welcome surprise to anyone who values a spacious toe box and thought the X4s were a little constraining. For this version, the Flexweave upper has patterning on the toe box, adding some flexibility and a good amount of stretch. It also adds a nice aesthetic touch.

Reebok Nano X4 Review

Released Year: 2024

Price: $99.99

The Reebok Nano X4 was officially released on January 12th, 2024, and is seen as a versatile and durable choice for cross-training that includes weightlifting, sprints, and general gym activities. In the launch of the Nano X4, Reebok’s innovation has been focused on the details, on eliminating unnecessary things, and on improving things imperceptible to the eye, but not to the sensations. The updated Flexweave woven textile upper is ultralight and a new midfoot ventilation panel allows greater air flow. Ultimate stability comes from the innovative Lift and Run Chassis system, while Floatride Energy Foam cushions every stride. The heel is what has been most modified: in addition to the plastic reduction, the rear rises like a "boot" to hug the ankle.Another change is seen inside the shoe, where side supports have been added to the tongue so that it does not move and improves the feeling of foot support.

As with all Reebok Nanos, this shoe will be very popular with CrossFit athletes, though you can lace up the Nano X4s for HIIT training, weightlifting, powerlifting, or just about anything besides longer runs.

Compared to the X3, the Nano X4 provides more cushioning and ventilation, resulting in a fantastic shoe that’s a bit lighter and more comfortable to wear than the Nano X3. If you previously enjoyed the fit and performance of the X3, the X4 offers familiar features with several upgrades that might enhance your training experience.

Reebok Nano X3 Review

Released Year: 2023

Price: $60-$149.99

The Reebok Nano X3 is a highly regarded cross-training shoe, praised for its versatility and performance in various workouts. The CrossFit shoes include some new features that set them apart from previous iterations. Namely, the trainers are largely being offered in unisex sizing, with some select women’s-only colorways (in women’s sizing). Additionally, the shoes feature new midsole technology proprietary to Reebok. It’s called the “Lift and Run (L.A.R.) Chassis System” and it supposedly supports both running and lifting better than any other shoe available today. The new midsole is supposed to perform better than previous versions under heavy loads and still provide shock absorption and energy return on runs. Coming in with Floatride energy foam like they put in their running shoes, giving you a responsive, cushioned ride. The new heel cup design allows for great transitions between sets without the shoes falling off of your foot. The heel pod also allows for firm standing during a lift yet ease of landing when doing box jumps or sprints.

The Reebok X3 can seamlessly transition from lifting to cardiovascular exercises. It's also stylish and comfortable enough that we wore it even in non-training contexts. For us, getting this shoe means having multiple shoes for the price of just one.

Conclusion: Which One Should You Choose?

The Nano series has consistently improved with each iteration, focusing on lighter weights, improved cushioning, and better overall fit. The Reebok X5 is a more balanced shoe than the Nano X4, with improved comfort and stability. The X5 also features a reworked midsole that makes it more pliable, making it better for HIIT and agility work.

On the other hand, the Reebok X4 is a well-regarded predecessor. The shoe shines during heavy lifts. It is a lighter and more breathable version of the Nano X3. The Nano X4 also features an updated Flexweave woven textile upper and a midfoot ventilation panel. Both shoes are designed for stability and support, and reviewers say they are comfortable and attractive.

The main differences between the Reebok Nano X3 and Nano X2 lie in the midsole and overall feel. The X3 features a "Lift and Run" chassis and a denser, stiffer sole, making it more stable for lifting and slightly better for short runs, while the X2 is more flexible and better suited for general CrossFit and potentially daily wear.

In Conclusion:

If you are looking for the most versatile, the X5 is the best choice, but if you want a more budget-friendly option, the X4 is still a great choice, especially if you prioritize stability for lifting.

If you prioritize stability for lifting and a more responsive feel for short runs, the Nano X3 is a good choice.

If you prefer a more flexible shoe for general CrossFit and daily wear, the Nano X2 might be a better fit.
