Caseology vs. Spigen vs. Otterbox vs. Casetify: Who Makes the Best Phone Case Brand?
Phones aren’t nearly as durable as they once were. Unless you're willing to shell out hundreds for a repair and put up with the downtime during that repair, you should put your phone in a case. One reliable phone case can help protect phones from scratches, cracks, drops and other types of damage. There are hundreds of mobile phone case brands on the market to choose from, the most famous four are Caseology, Spigen, Otterbox and Casetify. So what's the difference between them? Who makes the best phone case brand? In this guide, I will introduce these four phone case brands in detail to help you find the best one that suits your needs.
Caseology Brand History and Origin
Founded in 2010, Caseology is a tech accessory brand specializing in phone cases and accessories for Apple, Samsung, and other major smartphone brands. In 2017, Caseology expanded its product line to include accessories such as screen protectors and charging cables.Today, Caseology is a major contender in the tech accessory market, selling their products on multiple online marketplaces including Amazon and their own website. Their products are known for their unique designs, durability, and affordable pricing.
Caseology is a subsidiary of Spigen, one of the most trusted names in cases. Unlike Spigen, which offers fairly sober designs mostly limited to black, Caseology cases come in a much wider variety of colors, styles, and designs. With features like patented air space technology for added corner protection and textured TPU grips, Caseology’s cases offer military-grade protection and a range of quirky designs to choose from, like the Escher-inspired Parallax or the colorful silicone NanoPop cases. Most offerings will run you between $20 and $30. Even though some of Caseology’s cases may not look ready to take a beating, every model comes with a MIL-STD 810G-516.7 certification.
The Caseology Case Series Review
Caseology looks to make high-quality phone cases that fit each individual's need, it has serveal separate lines for your to choose from:
It shouldn't come as a surprise that the Parallax series is the best Caseology case option around. This series mixes sleek colors, ergonomic tactility, and geometric patterns, resulting in a case that is designed to delight the senses. Parallax series has a striking textured pattern on the back. This dramatically improves grip and, combined with dual-layer hybrid protection, gives the case excellent impact resistance. It offers MIL-STD 810G-516.7 protection. The Parallax series is available for 40 different devices and supported in several attractive colorways. Instead of simply offering black, blue, and other basic colors, it is available in Burgundy, Midnight Green, and Indi Pink, to name a few.
The Nano Pop series is one of Caseology's newest cases, and it’s a great way to add a little extra color to your phone. Inspired by the visuals of fresh fruit and summer colors, Nano Pop's dual colors highlight your Phone's best features with a pop of color. The Nano Pop series is made of soft silicone with a tough polycarbonate ring around the camera housing to keep your phone safe at all times while maintaining a remarkably thin profile. In addition, the protective inner defense pattern offers additional shock dispersion and Caseology's patented AirSpace Technology in all four corners means you can rest assured. You can choose from various color combinations, including Black Sesame, Peach Pink, and Blueberry Navy.
The Athlex Series is made of two joined layers offering the most protection and durability for your device. Built to be ergonomically designed, accent lines provides the most comfortable fit for your fingers to land while giving you the stylish look with high-contrast neon colors. The rugged sandstone texture and reliable grip on either side keep Athlex in your hands and off the ground no matter what activity. Air Space technology in each corner provides cushioning for daily drops and fumbles. As expected, it still features military-grade protection. But the Athlex series isn’t offered for very many phones. In addition, unlike the more colorful cases in the lineup, the Athlex is fairly sober. The outside is always dark gray, with three accent colors available.
Sometimes a simple TPU bumper case also can armor your phone from everyday drops and tumbles. That’s what you get with the Caseology Vault Series. Vault series is all about that grip, with sandstone textured TPU and built-in grips on either side designed provide excellent grip and hand-feel. Plus, the Vault series offers tactile button covers and reinforcement in all four corners, just in case you should happen to drop your device. It packs heavy duty military grade protection and drop shock absorbing patterns into a deceptively slim profile, resulting in a case that can take whatever life throws at it. As for color options, you’re mainly limited to burgundy or black finishes. It’s also one of the cheapest cases Caseology makes, although device support is somewhat limited.
If you prefer some see-through style to protect your device, then Caseology’s Skyfall Series is a better way to go. The entire back panel is crystal clear. This series case is created with certified military grade materials and our reinforced bumper with built in, textured TPU grip on each side ensures great grip and tough protection in a variety of hues. Depending on the model, it may have a colorful bumper or a clear bumper. You can also protect your camera with a stylish beveled ring to keep it raised from surfaces that could scratch it. Like the flagship Parallax, the Skyfall is ready for action thanks to the MIL-STD certification. Unfortunately, there are more color options to choose from on the iPhone side than on Android, but that seems to be a common theme across all case manufacturers.
With a powerful and sleek new redesign, Legion Series is your ideal adventure partner. This deceptively slim fit case packs a punch with heavy duty protection in dual layers. Flexible TPU provides shock absorption, as well as textured TPU for grip on both sides, while the outer shell is composed of durable Polycarbonate. Caseology's patented air space technology armors your device's corners from impacts. Reliable and durable, Legion embodies strength and security—your phone’s personal bodyguard.
Caseology isn't exactly known for rugged cases, but one of its newest ones fits the bill. Stratum Series's rugged, sandstone textured body offers durable shock-proof protection that feels good and grips great. A built-in flexible glass screen protector means you'll never have to fuss with a tricky glass application again, while preserving the responsiveness and feel of your natural screen. 360° protection ensures every surface, nook, and cranny of your Phone is solidly encased in reliable protection. Each corner has built in Air Space Technology designed to mitigate drops and falls. Granted, this won’t offer as much protection as rugged cases from the likes of Otterbox, or UAG, but it does have a little dose of that undeniable Caseology style. The only downside is that the Stratum is only offered for the iPhone 13 lineup and only in Ash Gray.
The Prices of Caseology Cases: Parallax series: $19.99-$39.99; Nano Pop series: $14.99-$34.99; Athlex Series: $24.99-$29.99; Vault Series: $14.99-$19.99; Skyfall Series: $24.99-$29.99; Legion Series: $24.99-$29.99; Stratum Series: $34.99

Spigen Brand History and Origin
Spigen Inc, commonly known as Spigen, is a South Korean mobile phone accessory maker based in the United States that makes cases, screen protectors and other accessories for popular smartphone models. Spigen Inc. was formerly SGP Korea, a South Korean mobile accessory company, established in 2004. The name, Spigen, derives from the two German words, "spiegel" and "gen", meaning mirror and gene. Both were combined to reflect the ideology behind our values in creating solutions reflecting the needs of our valued customers.
Since its launch in 2008, Spigen has earned recognition from producers in the industry, and is now one of the leading global providers for premier mobile accessories. Spigen’s brand is built around complimenting your other pieces of technology. For many users, that puts a priority on phone cases—after all, your smartphone is the one item that you carry with you everywhere. It’s the most likely thing that you’re going to drop, or crack, or break (after your favourite coffee mug, of course).Though Spigen is primarily known for its smartphone cases, they make an entire range of other accessories. We’re talking selfie sticks, headphones, smart home products, and more.
The Spigen Case Series Review
Spigen looks to make high-quality mobile accessories that fit each individual's need, it has five separate phone case lines to choose from:
If you need to make sure your device is solid and protected against even the harshest falls, Spigen's Armor series
cases are what you want. They offer the best drop protection, with
some differences between each specific type. The Geo Armor is the most
protective of the lot. It’s essentially a case that wraps around the
entire phone and includes a built-in screen protector if you don’t want
to use a separate one. The rugged armor uses air cushion technology
and a spider web pattern on the inside to keep the phone from being
damaged after falls of a few feet. The case also covers the phone’s
buttons with protective outer buttons, and it uses a raised lip around
the display to keep it from getting scratched. Well-known for its
shockingly slim — but durable — protection, the Tough Armor case is
built to survive the biggest drops. With impact foam backing in the
inner shell this dual layer design has an integrated kickstand on the
outer shell which unfolds to keep the phone facing the user so you can
watch your favourite videos on your phone hassle free. The rest of the
cases in the Armor lineup are also similar — emphasis on protection
with minor changes here and there.
The Hybrid Series is a mix between style and security, it will protect your phone against most falls and accidents, but not be as bulky as the Armor. This series has a few variations that are similar but have slight differences. The Spigen Ultra Hybrid clear case is made for showing off your smartphone. The back is completely transparent and lets your phone’s design take center stage. It also offers solid protection thanks to its TPU bumper and rigid polycarbonate back. The Spigen Neo Hybrid case is a two-layer case that combines a TPU case with a textured back and a polycarbonate shell. The result offers a solid amount of protection, even though the case is relatively thin and light. The Ultra Hybrid S has a built-in kickstand, the Quartz version has a glass back instead of plastic, and the Matte version has a frosted back instead of a clear one.
Spigen's Liquid Series provides cases with a small amount of protection, which is perfect if you’re not worried about wear and tear but still want something less slippery than the phone to grip. Some Liquid cases are clear, so you can see the original phone color underneath. The standard Liquid Air has a nice texture that looks subtle and elegant. A geometric pattern on the back is designed to give users a better grip. This Liquid Crysta case has a more flexible TPU design. It’s thinner, lighter, and easier to install than the Ultra Hybrid but doesn’t offer much protection. There’s also a glitter version that adds more bling to your phone if that’s what you’re into.
Similar to the Liquid, the Thin Fit Series fits snugly around the phone but provides slightly lesser protection than the Liquid. You get some corner protection with air cushion technology to keep the phone safe from tiny drops. It's not the most protective case Spigen has to offer, so it isn't a great choice for anyone particularly clumsy.
The Air Skin Series offers Unbeatable thinness for the ultimate minimalist look without sacrificing defence from everyday scratches. With an extremely lightweight and bulk-free PC material, it demonstrates minimalism at its finest. Spigen Air Skin case is made from Premium Polycarbonate with Urethane Coating to prevent discoloration and is form fitted to the device.Smooth curves and a slim profile display a seamless appearance and offer protection that is airy, bulk free, yet reliable.
The Prices of Spigen Cases: Armor Seires: $29.99-$69.99; Hybrid Series: $34.99-$54.99; Liquid Series: $24.99-$29.99; Thin Fit Series: $24.99; Air Skin Series: $24.99-$49.99

Otterbox Brand History and Origin
Otterbox has its headquarters in Fort Collins, Colorado. They launched in 1998, and their original products were water-resistant boxes for any electronic device. The company’s founder, Curt Richardson, invented the Otter Box in his garage in the early 90s in response to the growing popularity of watersports.
The company's move into the phone segment took place in 2010 with the first iPhone. Otterbox was one of the first out of the gate with protective cases for it, and the rest, as they say, is history. Otterbox now offers cases for most major smartphones, tablets, laptops, Chromebooks, and more. You can also get screen protectors, wireless chargers, power banks, cables, and various other accessories.
The Otterbox Case Series
Otterbox has serveral case series now ,incluidng Defender Series, Defender Pro Series, Commuter Series, Symmetry Series, Strada Series.
The Defender is Otterbox’s most rugged and heavy-duty case. The case is constructed with a hi-impact polycarbonate endoskeleton with an impact-absorbing silicone compound, shown here in fiery red. Nearly every square millimeter of of the phone is protected, and the case even provides a built-in screen protector. All ports are concealed by silicone flaps, yet the design leaves a hole for the microphone on top and exposed areas for the speakers on the bottom of the phone. It’s thick and bulky, but if all-around protection is what you’re after, this is the case to get.
There's an upgraded version of the Defender, called the Otterbox Defender Pro. The Otterbox Defender Pro somehow manages to be even more protective than the Defender series. The two are quite similar, but the Pro tacks a little more thickness and bulk to help your phone survive even harsher falls. It also comes with a more textured finish on the back that adds to the grip. The anti-microbial layer and a belt clip holster are also available with the Defender Pro.
The Symmetry series is a slim phone case that has a hard shell outer. It doesn’t come with a screen protector or port covers but offers excellent protection from accidental drops. It’s still excellent quality, but it doesn’t have the extra thickness and bulk. In fact, the polycarbonate case is one of the thinnest you can get from Otterbox. It still offers three times the drop protection you’d get with a MIL-STD 810G 516.6 certified case.
The Strada series is a wallet case with a quality leather outer. It’s a classic folio-style case with space for cards or cash on the inside of the fold, plus a magnetic clasp to keep it securely closed or open. The genuine leather finish adds a soft touch to the polycarbonate shell beneath the hood. Beneath the leather is a hard polycarbonate shell, offering the same superior protection as Otterbox’s signature cases. Another option called the Strada Via series drops the leather for a more-resistant polyurethane flap.
The Otterbox Commuter series offers the perfect middle ground. It borrows the best elements from both the Defender and the Symmetry cases. It has a relatively slim profile, but it sports dual-layer protection with the combination of a synthetic rubber interior and a polycarbonate shell. It also comes with port and button covers and an anti-microbial layer. While it’s compatible with a separate screen protector, it doesn’t have one built-in as the Defender does.It is destined for the budget iPhone 14 Pro Max user or those who want the option of several color choices.
The Prices of Otterbox Cases: Defender Seires: $14.95-$69.95; Defender Pro Series: $64.95; Symmetry Series: $49.95; Strada Series: $39.95-$69.95; Commuter Series:$39.95.
