About Lifetime

Lifetime is a brand, and they make coolers. Actually, this brand is known for making a lot of different products, ranging from tables and chairs to sports gear.

As a dedicated father and fan of basketball, Lifetime Products' founder simply wanted to build a better basketball hoop for his family. His passion for innovation quickly expanded beyond his initial project, and he created a company in March of 1986 called Lifetime Products. The philosophy for the name, as well as the goal of the company, was to build durable lasting products for consumers and their families.Lifetime Products became a world-wide trusted brand as it quickly broadened from basketball hoops to picnic tables, then folding tables and chairs. From those first years in Lifetime's history, the company has grown from 15 employees in a partial warehouse to over 1,500 employees — all over the globe.

Lifetime Cooler Review

Lifetime coolers are a budget friendly option to Yeti coolers and have many of the same features but cost a fraction of the cost. For under $100 at Walmart you can get a cooler that can hold ice for up to 5 days and is strong, durable and bear proof. It’s also made locally in the USA.This is a great option for the budget shopper who wants something better than a standard cooler, but doesn’t want to pay the hefty price tag of a high-end cooler.Their coolers are made from roto-molded plastic, which makes it very durable and strong. Its rugged appearance shows that it was built to withstand the most severe conditions.

Lifetime Coolers have also had their ice chests certified Grizzly Bear proof by the IGBC. Its one-mold construction ensures that it can withstand bear attacks and drops. While Lifetime did manage to hit the largest target markets, the overall size choices are still a bit lacking. Missing is a large range of mid-sized coolers and there are no choices for those of you who are after huge coolers (100+ quarts of storage volume).

Yeti vs. Igloo vs. Coleman vs. Lifetime: Comparison Side by Side

1.Ice Retention

Yeti coolers - Based on reviews and feedback from its customers, on average, YETI coolers can keep ice for up to 7 days. This is on par with other top-of-the-line brands.

Igloo coolers - Igloo claims the cooler can retain ice for 4 to 5 days at temperatures up to 90 degrees Fahrenheit, and based on Amazon customer reviews, it seems to live up to the hype.

Coleman coolers - If you pre-chill the cooler and if your beverages are already cold when you stack them in the cooler, they will keep your beverages cold up to 5 days (depends on a lot of factors though, such as outside temperature).

Lifetime coolers - Lifetime advertises 7-day ice retention. However it is more likely to get 5+ days ice retention in hotter weather and around about 7-8 days ice retention in cooler weather. There are a lot of reviews on YouTube by actual customers putting it at a much lower figure of between 3 and 4 days.

2.Sizes & Capacity

Yeti coolers - YETI cooler models and their capacity based on number of beers and pounds of ice.

image.png

image.png

As far as size range goes, a YETI cooler definitely has the upper hand for selection. They have way more sizes available, from the 20 quart model up to a massive 350 quarts (designed for fishermen and hunters).

Igloo coolers - Igloo coolers have 4 size options:

  • Small - Up to 20qt

  • Medium - 21-50qt

  • Large - 51-100qt

  • X-Large - 101+qt

Coleman coolers - Coleman has a great range of cooler sizes, starting at personal-sized coolers that are intended for an individual to pack his or her lunch to gigantic coolers that are large enough to store an entire week’s worth of items or supplies for a huge tailgate.  All sizes are optimally shaped, meaning that you should be able to use a vast majority of the storage volume.

Some specific attributes and qualities would benefit one size more than another and Coleman has a good understanding of what modifications to make to their design based on its size.

Lifetime coolers - Lifetime currently has three different cooler sizes to choose from. All three models are hard-sided. You can choose from 28-quart, 55-quart, and 77-quart options.

3.Design & Color

Yeti coolers - While Yeti’s core design is considered by many to be more than adequate, they go beyond and offer a wide range of color choices and some patterns and they even now offer various products that are adorned with sports teams.  They also have special services where you can have custom logos made for work, sports, and or any other organization you are a part of.

Igloo coolers - They offer a wide range of color choices and some patterns.

Coleman coolers - Coleman has a huge selection of style attributes to choose from. This doesn’t just stop at the color selection.  External patterns and color schemes and even attractive metal coolers are part of their vast selection.  So for those of you who want something that looks as good as it performs then you should be covered.

Lifetime coolers - The cooler comes in three colors: gray, white, yellow with blue highlights at the handles and latches.

Yeti vs. Igloo vs. Coleman vs. Lifetime: Which is the Best Cooler Brand?

It is rather difficult to put these four on the same table because of how different they are. Indeed, Yeti is an undisputed beast with a solid reputation in the industry. If you just want the better overall cooler considering the insulation and ice retention, you can go with the YETI.

Coleman is the better option for those who have a small budget but yet need a good ice retention performance and handy features such as cup holders, wheels, etc. Igloo on the other hand is the better brand for those who need a bit high-end, more heavy-duty, sportive cooler.

When it comes to value for money you really can't go wrong with the Lifetime cooler. For the price you are paying you get almost all the features of a Yeti cooler. Sure it lacks some of the durability and it isn't watertight.
