Dyson Vacuums Overviews

Dyson manufactures vacuum cleaners in all of the major categories: stick vacuums, upright vacuums, handheld vacuums, and robotic models. They tweak certain details, so that they’ll be optimal for pet owners, or for efficiently removing allergens, or that they automatically detect whether you’re vacuuming carpet or hard floor. It’s just a matter of defining what’s most important to you in a vacuum, and selecting that Dyson model.

Benefits of Dyson Vacuums

  • Superior suction power:To remove dust, allergens, and other particles, Dyson gathers all dirt through a filtration system. Large particles are caught and separated, providing lasting suction while reducing the chances of clogging.

  • Dyson Vacuums use HEPA filters:A Dyson vacuum is especially beneficial for a city like Calgary, where dust and smoke can make their way into your home. An added bonus: HEPA filters can last a lifetime.

  • Ball Technology designed for easy maneuverability:The ball rotates effortlessly in every direction while providing a sturdy design that keeps the vacuum upright, regardless of how it’s pushed or pulled. This technology reduces fatigue for the user.

  • Built to last:Dyson vacuums are made of the same material as crash helmets, making them a durable and resilient vacuum built to handle heavy usage.

  • Versatile designs:The line of vacuum cleaners that Dyson offers fits the needs of many homeowners and some commercial establishments.

Types of Dyson Vacuums

  • Cordless stick vacuums:Dyson’s contributions in this category include their Dyson Outsize, which can run for 120 minutes on a single charge!

  • Upright vacuums:Dyson has special uprights for animal hair, such as the Dyson Ball Animal 2, with a turbine tool to remove hair from your furniture, and the Dyson Small Ball Allergy, for removing allergens from the room.

  • Handheld vacuums:Dyson’s only handheld vacuum presently is the Dyson V7 Trigger vacuum.

  • Robot vacuums:Dyson’s most recent version of a robot vacuum is the Dyson 360 Heurist. It is operated by a smartphone app, and features an LED light ring, time of flight sensors to map out the entire room where it has to clean and has a 78,000 rpm motor.

Whether you need to keep the home in tiptop shape or make sure the car interior is clean, the Dyson V7 can do it all. Admittedly Dyson has more powerful handsticks in the V10 and V11 series, but the Dyson V7 is far more affordable than the newer models. There’s enough power here to suck up hair, sand and pebbles, although a 30-minute battery life on the standard power setting means you may not be able to get your entire home cleaned in one go.

The Dyson V7 is a decent choice for cleaning bare floors. It's very effective at sucking up pet hair and small debris. However, bulky material gets stuck at the entry to its floorhead and then scattered around due to the rotation of its brushroll. Thankfully, its lightweight construction makes it easy to maneuver, and its bagless design incurs virtually no recurring costs.

Sitting between the base V7 series and much more expensive Cyclone V10 handsticks, the Dyson V8 is like the middle child. It’s got better battery life than the V7 and is still a pretty powerful tool, despite having originally launched way back in 2016. But quality doesn’t come cheap. If you can afford it, the Dyson V8 is a lightweight, heavy-duty dust buster that can replace the traditional corded vacuum cleaner in most households.

Like all the other Dyson handsticks, there are a few different versions of the V8 available. They all share the same motor and battery – the only real difference between them all is the number of extra tools they ship with.

Here is Dyson V8 Animal vs. Absolute vs. Motorhead vs. Fluffy guide:

Price and Where to buy?

Should you buy the Dyson V8?

Buy it if...

  • You’re after a powerful handstick vacuum cleaner

  • You need a versatile cleaning appliance

  • You have the money to spare

    Don't buy it if...

    • You live in a large home

    • You’re on a budget

    • You need a larger capacity dustbin

Dyson V7 vs. V8: Which Model to Buy?

    • Dyson V7 is better for pet owners, bigger homes, and carpets (the Fluffy is good for hard floors only). Only the HEPA modification is safe for those who suffer from allergies and asthma. For small cleaning areas. There is no option with two cleaning heads.

    • Dyson V8 is HEPA which means all options are safe for everyone. The V8 has an Absolute modification which means it is suitable for homes with all surfaces. On carpets, the V7 and V8 do about the same job.

The Dyson V10 is a powerful 2-in-1 vacuum cleaner that offers a few different cleaning modes, several cleaning accessories, and a powerful cleaning performance overall. With one of the longest battery run-time we’ve ever seen, the Dyson V10 is a well-rounded cordless vacuum that is positioned to dramatically shake up the vacuum industry.

The Dyson  V10 is a versatile cordless stick vacuum. It delivers superb performance on bare floors and clears an impressive amount of debris on low and high-pile carpet. It can also be easily reconfigured into a handheld vacuum and comes with a very wide assortment of tools and accessories, including a flexible crevice tool and a turbo brush. However, its mainly plastic construction doesn't feel especially robust.

    Price and Where to buy?

Who Should Buy the Dyson V10 Vacuum?

We would recommend the Dyson V10 if you’re looking for the following features in a cordless vacuum.

    • Longer battery run time – The Dyson V10 offers up to a 60-minute run time

    • Wide variety of accessories – With the purchase of this Dyson vacuum cleaner you will receive a good number of cleaning tools and accessories for upright or handheld use.

    • Want a 2-in-1 vacuum – Although the primary function of the V10 is to act as a stick vacuum, you also have the option of removing the stick and using it as a handheld vacuum.

    • Don’t mind spending a bit more – Dyson is known for its higher price tags, but the price of this unit certainly reflects the performance and quality you’re receiving.

Dyson V8 vs. V10: Which Model to Buy?

    • The Dyson V8 is a great device for the price. It is good for small and average homes with hard floors and carpets. It is not as powerful as the Dyson V10 which means you might need to do a few passes to achieve the same cleaning results you would do with the V10 after fewer attempts.

    • The Dyson V10 is when good becomes better. If you want more suction as if you have mostly high-pile carpets and pets and want the vacuum to suck it all, the V10 would be the best. Since it lasts longer, it is also more suitable for bigger homes & because of having a bigger dustbin, the V10 is essential for pet owners.

    Dyson V11 Vacuum

    Best Dyson Vacuum for Carpets

    User reviews:4.7/5.0

Dyson's V11 range already offers some substantial advancements over its predecessor, the Dyson Cyclone V10 range, including increased battery life, 20% more suction power - that’s an incredible 185AW (Air Watts) - and a handy rear-mounted LCD display that lets you cycle through modes and see exactly how much vacuuming time you have left. Now you also get a cleaning head that covers 25% more of the floor and a super-sized dust bin with a capacity 0f 1.9-liters.

The V11 is smarter and more efficient than its predecessors. The suction power automatically adjusts based on floor type—more power for carpets and less for smooth surfaces—and the remaining battery life is displayed on an LCD screen that faces the user. No more nasty surprises when the battery dies halfway through your living room.

    • Want the most suction in a cordless vacuum

    • Want an advanced digital screen

    • Want automatically adjusting suction based on floor type

    Don't buy it if...

    • You have a small home

    • You don’t have a pet

Dyson V10 vs. V11: Which Model to Buy?

    • The Dyson V10 would be a great cleaner to replace your traditional vacuum. It is good for low, medium, and high-pile carpets, it handles pet hair pretty well. Those who have hard flooring mostly should have a look at the Absolute version.

    • The Dyson V11 is the newest and most powerful cordless vacuum cleaner on the market so far. The V11 is for those who want the absolute best with smart features, display, etc. Perfect for pet owners, high-pile carpet cleaning, any type of flooring. If you mostly have hard floors, we would recommend getting a soft roller if the Absolute version is not available in your country.

    Dyson V15 Vacuum

    Best Value Overall Vacuum

    User reviews:4.6/5.0

    1653634294897913.png

    Source:dyson.com

The Dyson V15 is excellent for bare floors. It clears pet hair and small and bulky debris, like rice and cereal, without difficulty on this surface type. Better still, its suction performance remains consistent as its dirt compartment fills up. It's also quite maneuverable and incurs virtually no recurring costs as long as it's properly maintained. Unfortunately, it doesn't feel especially sturdy and has quite a few parts that need periodic cleaning.

But no matter your age, Dyson's latest cordless stick vacuum, the V15 Detect, is likely to turn heads. Featuring more suction power than any of its predecessors, an LCD that shows particle counts in real time, and a new cleaner head attachment that shines a green laser on your hard floors to reveal debris otherwise invisible to the naked eye, it's perhaps the smartest and most capable cordless stick vacuum on the market. It also comes with a host of accessories to quickly transition from vacuuming your floors, to sucking up trash from the inside of your car, to dusting various surfaces throughout your home.

Advantage and Disadvantage of Dyson V15

    ProsCons
    • Crazy suction power.

    • Laser cleaning head.

    • Bleeding edge sensor tech.

    • Long run time.

    • Lightweight, maneuverable construction.

    • Virtually no recurring costs.

    • It’s expensive.

    • Doesn't feel especially sturdy.

    • Demanding maintenance requirements.

Differences Between Dyson V15 Model Variants

The Dyson V15 Detect only comes in one variant: 'Nickel', and you can see the label for the model we tested here.

    Price and Where to buy?

Should I Buy the Dyson V15 Detect?

    Buy it if...

    • You want to know that your home is thoroughly clean

    • You have hard floors in your home

    • You want powerful suction

    Don't buy it if...

    • You’re on a budget

    • You have a large home

    • You don’t want a loud vacuum

Dyson V11 vs. V15: Which Model to Buy?

Alright, so all things considered, should you buy the Dyson V15 Detect or the Dyson V11?

We would recommend the Dyson V15 Detect to people who:

    • Want particulate data: The onboard Piezo sensor detects size and particle count for debris on the floor.

    • Advanced digital display: The particulate data is also displayed on the back of the digital display using a colored bar chart.

    • Laser brushroll: The Fluffy brushroll on the V15 is designed to include a laser light, which makes it easier to see small particles on the floor.

We would recommend the Dyson V11 to people who:

    • Want a good value: With the launch of the V15, the V11 price of the V11 will likely start going down.

    • Excellent cleaning performance: Despite its lack of V15 bells and whistles, the cleaning performance is still top-notch, between 99-100% average on all floor types.

    • Don’t need the Fluffy cleaning head: One of the biggest misses for the V11 (in my opinion) is that it doesn’t include the Fluffy cleaning head.

The Differences Between Dyson Motorhead, Animal, and Absolute Models?

In terms of features and specifications, the Dyson Motorhead, Animal, and Absolute are the same except for the Dyson V10 which has some differences between the modifications.

    • The Motorhead modification comes with one carpet brush and basic accessories.

    • The Animal normally has about the same accessory kit as the Absolute edition except for the soft roller cleaner head.

    • The Dyson Absolute has the biggest accessory kit and also includes a soft-roller for hard floors.

    • There is also an Animal+ modification that has the accessories of the Animal modifications with an additional flexi crevice tool.

Should You Buy the Dyson V7 or V8 or V10 or V11 or V15?

Reasons to choose the Dyson V7 MotorHead:

    • Better Ergonomically: Being more slightly compact makes the V7 better when it comes to ergonomics. The steering is more responsive on carpets where the smaller brush has less drag.

    • Lighter: The V7 is the lighter option, so it doesn’t feel heavy on the wrist.

    • Cleans surface dirt better on carpets: The V7 scored 100% in seven of the eight tests and was a few percentage points better than the V8.

    • More airflow: One of the surprises is the V7 having more airflow than the V8, at least in the max setting using the primary cleaning nozzle.

Reasons to choose the Dyson V8:

    • Better on hard floors: The Fluffy attachment of the V8 Absolute is superior to the V7’s MotorHead brush. It’s more efficient and isn’t as prone to scratching the surface.

    • Deep cleans better: Based on my tests, the V8 is better at picking up embedded dirt than the V7.

    • Better at resisting tangles: The chunkier brush in the Direct Drive head resists tangles better than the thinner brush of the MotorHead.

    • Runs longer: The larger capacity battery allows the V8 to run further. So it’s a better alternative for bigger homes.

    • More tools: It comes with more attachments than the V7 Motorhead.

Reasons to choose the Dyson V10:

    • Runs for an hour: Dyson says that the V10 will run for 60 minutes, and tests show that it exceeds this figure at 61 minutes. But that’s using the non-motorized attachments. Even with the cleaning heads, it will run close to 29 minutes, which is a great number for a cordless.

    • Costs less: Dollar for dollar, the Dyson V10 provides exception value being the cheaper option than the V11. Cleaning tests show that the V10 has almost the same performance, at least on picking up surface dirt with just a minuscule 1% difference.

    • You want the fluffy tool: This tool works wonders on bare floors, capable of picking up small and dirt pieces of dirt. Unfortunately, the V11 Absolute is only available in the UK. So if you need this tool, go for the V10 Absolute.

Reasons to choose the the Dyson V11:

    • Digital screen display: This screen tells you information about the battery status, cleaning mode, and when to clean the filter. It is a feature unique to the V11 Torque Drive (and Absolute in the UK).

    • Better deep cleaning tool: The V11’s higher airflow is felt most in deep cleaning carpet, which is where it shines. Even in the middle power setting, it was still able to pick up 99%.

    • Automatically adjusts suction: It has a sensor that detects the floor type (carpet or hard floor) and automatically adjusts suction to fit the surface. Dyson calls it the Dynamic Load Sensor that will detect resistance and change motor speed accordingly.

    • Cleans for more than an hour: Both options have a listed run time of 60 minutes. However, tests show that the V11 will run significantly longer – up to 80 minutes (40 minutes using the torque drive tool in the medium setting)!

Reasons to choose the the Dyson V15:

    • Advanced digital display: With the addition of the Piezo sensor also comes the more advanced digital display on the back of the handheld. If you want more details on exactly what you’re cleaning, the technology of the V15 is certainly hard to beat.

    • Want particulate data: Between the V15 and the Outsize, the V15 is the only one of the two models that can offer info about particulate data, thanks to the onboard Piezo sensor.

    • Fluffy cleaning head: The V15 also comes with the Laser Slim Fluffy cleaning head which has a washable brushroll, soft rollers, and an onboard LED light for better visibility of floor-based particles.

How to Choose the Best Dyson Vacuum?

    1. What you need

Before shopping for a Dyson product, determine what you need.

Do you need something exclusively for hard floors?

    How big is your home?

Is having a cord-free product essential?

Answering these questions (and more) will help immensely with the selection process and reduce the likeliness of buyer’s remorse.

    2. How you’re willing to spend

After determining your need, it’s time to set a budget or a range.

Doing this will eliminate options, not in the budget and ultimately save you time not researching something you cannot afford.

    3. Non-negotiable features

Next, what’s a feature you need to have. Is it a soft roller attachment because your home only has hard surfaces.

Or is it high suction and agitation for deep cleaning carpet?

Whatever that is, determine these items to make a checklist of must-haves.
