SodaStream Art vs. Terra vs. E-Terra vs. E-Duo: Differences and Reviews 2024

The most satisfying sparkling water is the fresh kind you make yourself and with SodaStream's best machine this experience just got even better. SodaStream is a long-established brand with proven quality in the market, providing a more economical and environmentally friendly alternative to bottled soda. It allows you to be creative in the production of mixed sparkling drinks, since fresh saturated water is available at the touch of a button on the device. Not to mention it’s cheaper to make your own carbonated water. Differences between SodaStream TERRA, ART, E-TERRA and E-DUO. While all 4 machines can make soda, the models operate differently. In this article, we will introduce you to the differences between these models.

Editor's review: SodaStream Art vs. Terra vs. E-Terra vs. E-Duo: Which one is best?

My number one choice is SodaStream Art!

Comparisons and honest reviews of the best carbonators

#1. SodaStream Art™ sparkling water maker

SodaStream Art™ sparkling water maker

The SodaStream Art is their premium carbonator, with a retro-style body and lever instead of a button. It performs just like any other SodaStream model, but if you're after aesthetics, I think it's a more attractive option.

Not only does SodaStream Art look and feel great, but it dissolves 6 grams of CO2 into each bottle of water again and again and stays fully carbonated for 24 hours.

I also really like the finer-textured bubbles Art produces, with the smaller bubbles creating a softer, longer-lasting fizz on the tongue with every sip.

SodaStream Art gives you complete control over how fizzy your drinks are, creating long-lasting bubbles that can last for days in the fridge. The more you crank the lever, the more bubbles it creates.

After a day in the fridge, the bubbles in the included 1-liter dishwasher bottle were the fizziest of all the models, probably because the SodaStream Art produced the most bubbly of the bubbly waters.

The machine also features SodaStream’s new quick-connect technology, which allows you to simply snap the carbonation tank into place.

Additionally, the Art comes with a BPA-free 1-liter dishwasher safe reusable bottle, which saves thousands of single-use plastic bottles from ending up in oceans or landfills.

The SodaStream Art elevates the sparkling water experience and differentiates itself from other SodaStream machines with its slim profile, retro design, stainless steel accents and unique carbonation lever.

The SodaStream Art comes in 4 colors: black, white, mist blue, and orange and is priced at $129.99. I really love this piece of art and believe it will be the highlight of any kitchen.

The design marries retro vibes with modern convenience in a tall soda maker that won't dominate your counter space.

#2. SodaStream Terra™ Sparkling Water Maker

SodaStream Terra™ Sparkling Water Maker

The Terra is SodaStream's most basic current model, and its functionality is very similar to the original Fizzi. The main difference is that it uses new quick-connect technology.

This technology offers an elevated consumer experience for connecting the cylinder to the sparkling water maker in one simple click with no need for screwing in.

This is a manual machine, nice if you want to use it somewhere where you don’t have a plug handy.

The SodaStream Terra is the perfect combination of price and performance, with an intuitive design and compact form factor that fits on top of a bar or in a cabinet.

It produces medium-sized, confident bubbles—this sparkling water should be suitable for daily sparkling water drinkers.

Terra is available in four colors: black, white, fog blue and red. Its sleek design combines beautifully textured, high-polished and matte finishes to fit seamlessly into any kitchen.

In addition to its beautiful visual design, Terra also improves the physicality of carbonated water with a more ergonomic carbonating button.

To carbonate, firmly push the carbonating button all the way down and hold the button for 1-2 seconds and release. Repeat 3 times for standard fizz and 5 times for strong fizz.

The Terra performs well and is easy to set up, but it's not carbonate as densely as my first choice, the SodaStream Art. The Terra tops out at just 4 grams of CO2 dissolved into each bottle.

You can purchase the Terra at SodaStream.com for $99.99. The Terra is affordable too, all the more so because the price tag includes a dishwasher-safe, 1-liter bottle and a 60-liter carbonation tank.

While this machine works with other 0.5- and 1-liter SodaStream bottles, it requires a proprietary carbonation tank sold only by SodaStream (that works with the Terra and Art models).

That’s something to keep in mind, if you’re the kind of seltzer drinker who is using this machine a few times a day.

#3. SodaStream E-Terra™ electric sparkling water maker

image.png

The SodaStream E-Terra takes the guesswork out of one of the big questions raised by soda makers: how many times to push the button.

As an electric soda machine, the E-Terra model that replaces the SodaStream Fizzi One Touch model works very well.

The machine has three carbonation settings (low, medium or high) and all you have to do is tighten the bottle and press the button. However, most manual models (including other SodaStream products) are just as easy to use and don't require an electrical outlet to work.

I actually no longer recommend automatic soda machines like the SodaStream E-Terra. The soda maker market has largely moved away from electric models, with SodaStream the only major player still offering one. Countertop kitchen appliances that don't require an outlet can be even more convenient.

Having said that, if you prefer an automated experience, the E-TERRA has a unique electronic interface that allows you to precisely carbonate water with just one tap.

Three preset carbonation levels allow you to control the carbonation and craft beverages just the way you like it.

Additionally, SodaStream features blue ambient lighting for the first time, which lights the water while sparkling, creating a carbonation experience like no other.

Featuring a slim profile, textured finish and new LED motorized tactile buttons that create a flat design on the top panel, E-TERRA has an elevated design that complements a variety of kitchen styles.

E-TERRA can also carbonate 1 liter and 0.5 liter BPA-free reusable plastic bottles, making them perfect for home use or an on-the-go lifestyle.

The E-TERRA is a premium electric version of the best-selling SodaStream Terra, available in white or black at all national retailers (SodaStream.com, Amazon, Target, Kohl's, etc.) for $159.99.

I found that these small, tingling, effervescent bubbles were well distributed and made the water deliciously drinkable—and the carbonation even lasted longer than many other brands of soda makers.

While it produced sparkling water that performed well, the problem was the lack of manual controls.

As the carbon dioxide in the canister begins to deplete, most machines require more infusion pushes to reach the same level of carbonation as before. Without this manual control, the SodaStream E-TERRA is unable to deliver a consistent amount of carbonation to the water throughout the life of the CO2 canister, causing one to have to replace the canister earlier than with a manual soda machine.

#4. Premium SodaStream E-Duo™ sparkling water maker

Premium SodaStream E-Duo™ sparkling water maker

image.png

The E-Duo is the most advanced and innovative sparkling water maker within the SodaStream portfolio.

It is an automated sparkling water maker that is compatible to carbonate both glass and plastic bottles for elevated entertainment at home and convenient portability on the go, and offers  consistency of carbonation with one simple touch.

It features three preset levels of fizz — small, medium, and large — offering customization to suit any palate.

Since this model is fully automatic and operates with the push of a button, some people like to get the right carbonation level without the need for trial and error.

I found the first level to be a bit flat, but the other two worked best, producing tiny bubbles with intense carbonation. The results are consistent and refreshing, and I find the soda lasts longer than carbonated drinks made by other brands.

It also features a unique stainless steel holder loading system that feels like the most secure setting when inserting bottles. I found myself doubting whether the bottle was fully inserted on other models, but I never had those doubts when using the E-Duo.

The E-Duo model offers a clean, modern-industrial design with a mix of matte and shiny surfaces, blue colored LED buttons for fizzing water, and an advanced stainless-steel flask with soft opening and auto lift that enhance the look of every kitchen.

Glass bottles add a nice touch to sparkling water, and the E-Duo comes with two bottles as standard. Although plastic bottles are easier to store and move around, I love the sturdiness and durability of these glass bottles.

The E-Duo kit includes both a 1-liter dishwasher-safe reusable plastic bottle and 1-liter dishwasher-safe glass carafe, and comes in Titan Silver/Black and will be available for $199.99. The price is a bit expensive.

The unique design and 1-liter carafe make it stand out from the crowd, but I found this soda water maker to be quite bulky, the tallest device of all the options, and required more space.

Final verdict: Which carbonator is the best?
