1.The Colors of Le Creuset Cookware

(1)Le Creuset is renowned for its rich, sophisticated, and vivid colors, which typically lighten towards the center of the lid or vessel.

5.The Enamel Quality

(2)The rims of a Le Creuset signature oven only have the first primer coating and look different from the cookware’s body and lid. The rims may look like they aren’t enameled, but they just don’t have colored enamel – they still have the dark primer.

7.The Interior Color

Genuine Le Creuset uses two main types of interior enamel in their cast iron cookware. 

• The most common is a glossy, light sand colored enamel which is found in their iconic Signature cast iron casseroles and Dutch ovens. 

• This sand-colored interior allows for easy monitoring of the cooking progress. The other type is a matte black satin enamel which Le Creuset uses in their skillets, pans, and grills.

8.The Package

(1)White spacers are packaged with new cookware. These are used to prevent damage between the lid and the cooking pot. The lid can also be inverted on the spacers for stacking of cookware.

(2)One note – the color of the product on the Le Creuset box may not match the color of the product inside. (Le Creuset likes to use the signature color Flame on its boxes, no matter what the color inside.) 

(3)However, the box should have a label listing the color and giving a serial number. Check the product’s serial number to make sure it is correct and not counterfeit.

9.The Country of Origin on the Bottom

Le Creuset is manufactured in France, and so all genuine Le Creuset pieces should feature either “France” or “Made in France” engraved in the same font and style (though smaller) as the company name. It should also be on the bottom of most pieces.

Tip:Not all Le Creuset products are made in France, but the brand manufactures all cast iron products at the original foundry in Northern France.
