A visit to Mallorca's capital, Palma, should start at the Cathedral, the inside of which was restored by the famous Catalonian architect Antoni Gaudí. From there, head out to visit the Arab baths and palaces at Plaza de Cort. Crown off your day by exploring the Bellver Castle, one of the few circular castles in all of Europe. Built on a defensive hill-top spot, the castle offers a spectacular view of the city. Venture outside the capital to find even more points of interest, such as the town of Sóller, which showcases Balearic Modernista architecture. 

You can take public transportation or drive yourself to this open sea beach, one of the island's top places for enjoying the sun. The 3 km-long beach is part of a protected nature area. Nearby are the Ses Salines salt pans, the second-oldest in the world, dating from the Roman era.

Mallorca has 43 clear-blue and calm Blue Flag beaches. Many of these beaches are akin to natural pools, with white sand and lush surrounding vegetation. Caló des Moro and Cala Mondragó, in the Santanyí area, Formentor beach, near the scenic viewpoint of the same name, and the seemingly endless Muro beach near Can Picafort are all popular choices.
