Lucky Summer Collection Designer Dossier
When it comes to anything and everything Lucky, I’m an easy sell. I’ve been a Lucky loyalist since the magazine launched in 2000. The all product, all the time mantra of Lucky (i.e. The Ultimate Shopping Guide) absolutely made me swoon. Who doesn’t want to pour over page after page of amazing fashion finds?
I implicitly trust the taste of the magazine’s editors, who really are more like the world’s most affordable personal stylists, if you think about it. It’s no surprise that the magazine’s HSN collection, and the wares of its five featured designers, really are the cream of the summer 2010 crop. So what labels will you find in the dream closet you’ll be shopping?
Gerard Yosca: Gerard Yosca designs fun pieces—think boho for grown-ups. Yosca says his collection is “a little of this, a little of that. Kind of like digging through a fun jewelry box.” What can you expect to find in that jewelry box? Bold, statement necklaces and rings along with gorgeous chandelier earrings—all dripping with brilliant, covetable stones.
La Victoire by Pour le Victoire: Here you’ll find strappy (and surprisingly comfortable) metallic wedges and intricately beaded flats fit for running errand after errand. These shoes are all about embellishment and those special, intricate touches that make each design feel oh-so-special. The designer, David Giordano, says this collection will make you “feel glamorous, as if you are sipping a Bellini on the French Riviera.” Sounds divine, doesn’t it?
Thread: After designing bridesmaid dresses for women who begged for dresses for non-wedding soirees, Melissa Akey and Beth Blake launched Thread, the ultimate collection of party dresses. “Thread, by design, is feminine and flirty—think lots of bows and ruffles!—but also versatile and easy to wear,” says Akey. The two dresses selected for the Lucky capsule collection are selling at only a fraction of the usual Thread prices.
F & C by Anna Corinna: F & C bags are the ideal mix of fun and functional. Designer Anna Corinna says F & C finds inspiration in cool girls everywhere—that means us, right?—and it shows. These bags have a vintage lure and a feminine vibe. Absolute staples.
Pade Vavra: Now, my personal favorite, Pade Vavra, whose jewelry designs are just so unique, earthy and wholly beautiful. The earrings, necklaces and the cuffs—oh, the cuffs!—are the jaw-dropping-type of special. One glance at her pieces, and it’s easy to see why Lucky has featured her designs again and again. Vavra puts it best: “These designs are inspired by natural rock formations—timeless, organic and otherworldly.”
