Still don’t know what you’ll be donning on the 31st? We’ve always been enamored of leading lady style, so we thought we’d share a few of our favorite Halloween costume inspirations with you—just in case you’re still wandering aimlessly about the packed aisles of the nearest big box store. 1) If you caught this week’s episode of Gossip Girl, then you must have absolutely swooned for the speakeasy style that abounded at the opening of Chuck’s new club. While we don’t have the time (or the funds) to completely recreate Blair’s gorgeous ’20s getup, we did find this Puttin’ on the Ritz dress, which comes complete with a cute cloche.
2) Ever since we saw the amazing eye candy that was Soffia Coppola’s Marie Antoinette, we’ve been harboring a certain fantasy to don pink powdered wigs and wear floor-length dresses that swish behind us as we amble through Versailles. In the meantime, we’ll channel the ill-fated queen (and Kirsten Dunst) in this Marie Antoinette number.
3) If you’re more of a Keira Knightley adventurous type, we suggest this Captain Swashbuckler costume a la Pirates of the Caribbean. Sure, it’s too short and sweet to accommodate any serious pirate battles. But who needs swords and action-packed drama when you’ve got lace, frills and oodles of volume?
